More about bajji chilli
Bajji chilli (bajji menasu, ಬಜ್ಜಿ ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ) is the long, fat, pale-green chilli that goes into mirchi bajji. BulkVeg supplies it wholesale to restaurants, caterers, canteens and tea-snack counters across Bangalore, straight from our shops in the Kalasipalyam APMC yard.
Wholesale bajji chilli in Bangalore — what you get
- Type: the mild, thick-walled bajji variety — roughly 10–15 cm long, pale to mid green, with a wide shoulder that holds a filling.
- Grade: sorted for even length and thickness, firm and glossy, stems on, no splits or soft tips.
- Heat: mild. It is chosen for size and body, not heat — for heat, use our Green Chilli G4 (Dark) or Green Chilli G4 (Light).
- Sold: by weight, in 10 kg lots, at today’s per-kg rate.
How kitchens use bajji chilli
Mirchi bajji is the obvious one: slit, seeded, dipped in gram-flour batter and fried — a snack counter can move several kilos a day. Even sizing matters here more than for any other chilli, because pieces of one size cook through in the same time and the batter coats them the same way. Beyond bajji, the thick walls take a stuffing well (masala, potato, paneer), the chilli holds its shape in a tangy mirchi ka salan for biryani, and it makes a mild chilli pickle and raita garnish. Pair it with potato for aloo-stuffed mirchi.
Graded at the yard, packed in leno mesh
Every lot is handpicked at arrival in the Kalasipalyam APMC yard, before anyone else lays a hand on it, then graded, weighed on a certified scale and packed in leno mesh bags marked with your name. The mesh lets the produce breathe on the drive to your kitchen and lets you see the lot before you open it. What is packed is what is weighed — no hidden wastage on the bill.

Questions buyers ask about bajji chilli
Is bajji chilli spicy?
Mildly. Heat varies a little from lot to lot, but bajji chilli is bought for its size and thick flesh. Removing the seeds before frying takes most of the remaining heat out.
How long does it keep?
About a week refrigerated, loose or in a perforated bag, stems on and unwashed until use. Keep it away from moisture — wet chillies soften at the tips first.
Can I get the same size every day?
Yes — the lot is graded for length and thickness at the yard every night. Tell us if your counter needs a particular size band and we grade to it.
